This double sided hanging quilt is called One Mississippi, Two Mississippi. The back is made from scraps cut while making the front landscape (plus some purple to fill in the gaps, and to allude to the mighty Mississippi river delta). It’s approximately 2′ x 7′ and hangs in my studio as a souvenir of a lovely 2010 visit with my mother (who taught me almost everything I know!), and my first visit to Mississippi. This quilt was inspired by the appliqued dimensional flowers, which I had learned to make from one of her gulf-coast guild mates the night before I started this piece. Thanks Violet!
