in march of 2013 my mother, Solveig Wells died. she died on the day i was supposed to start recording her for an animated documentary that i was to make about her life, her quilting, and her collections (you can see the beginning tests i did by clicking here).
i asked the crematorium to give me her spare parts - morbid, perhaps... but when your mom's two favourite sayings were 'waste not, want not" and 'it never hurts to ask', you can't not get someone to dig her old replacement hip out of the ashes, right? and so, with her titanium hip joint as the base and the plastic containers hospitals issue for denture wearers, and a few buttons from her collection, i made this bouquet thanks to Tony's Music Box for the bag of used guitar strings.
happily the hospital-issued containers are just about my favorite colour on the planet, making this hands down, my favourite bouquet to date.
